LifeLabs: Canada’s Largest Community Laboratory
LifeLabs is Canada’s largest community laboratory, providing medical diagnostic services that help healthcare providers diagnose, treat, and monitor disease. The organization conducts more than 140 million tests each year, spanning standard blood work, specialized and genetic testing, and digital health connectivity. Its services range from routine laboratory testing — blood work, urinalysis, and allergy testing — to specialized diagnostics such as prenatal and inherited-disorder genetic screening and cardiac monitoring, alongside partnerships that provide surge capacity and backup diagnostic support to hospitals and long-term care facilities.
A Multi-Site Program Across British Columbia
Cutler partnered with LifeLabs on a series of diagnostic locations across British Columbia, each designed to deliver a consistent, welcoming, and highly functional patient experience. The locations were developed to support efficient sample collection and testing workflows while maintaining the comfort and accessibility that LifeLabs’ patients rely on.
Cutler’s Role
Cutler provided architecture, interior design, and project consulting across the program, delivering the full scope of services — schematic design, design development, construction documentation, tender management, building permit management, project management, and contract administration. Coordinating each location from concept through completion, our team helped LifeLabs roll out spaces that are practical, repeatable, and aligned with the standards of Canada’s largest community laboratory.
