Spareparts WINS retail store design AWARD
IN CANADIAN SHOPPING CENTRE COMPETITION
 

NEW YORK, September 19, 2013 – The International Council of Shopping Centers, (ICSC) in keeping with its long standing tradition of recognizing and honouring the shopping centre industry’s most cutting-edge, innovative solutions and creative responses to market trends, as well as outstanding examples of retail store design announced its award recipients for the 2013 Canadian Shopping Centre Global Awards programs.  As part of this exclusive shopping centre awards competition, ICSC is pleased to announce Spareparts Chinook, Calgary, Alberta, has been awarded a 2013 Maple Leaf Award in this annual awards competition.

The new Spareparts Flagship shop was completely redesigned by Cutler to create a space that appealed to a wide range of customers and made shoppers feel at home. The new store features black and white minimalism with breeze block graphics and custom light fixtures.  Design influences range from mid-century modern to Scandinavian while still retaining a uniquely Canadian vibe.

Professional recognition for this program was given to the following individuals: Cutler, Interior Design & Project Management; and Montana, General Contracting.

The 2013 ICSC Canadian Shopping Centre Awards competition are designed to recognize outstanding achievements in marketing, design and development of retail properties and retail store design.  The awards were open to shopping centre owners, developers, management companies, architects and designers, and retailers.

For entries in the design & development and retail store design categories, retail projects must have been opened within the time period of January 1, 2012 and May 31, 2013.   Entries within the design and development category are recognized for outstanding design qualities and creativity in development, through renovation or expansion of an existing property or in the innovative design of a new retail project.

ICSC announced the winners of the 2013 ICSC Canadian Shopping Centre Awards during an awards ceremony at ICSC’s Canadian Convention in Toronto, Ontario.
