The lines between brick and mortar retail and e-commerce are constantly being blurred. Smart brands continue to see the value in offering customers an omni-channel experience, and the savviest shoppers know how to seamlessly navigate it.

One of our latest finds following this movement is a Bluetooth-enabled mannequin that communicates with shoppers via a smartphone app. Once in range of the mannequin, passersby will be notified and gain access to information about the items on display. Pricing, materials, and location within the store appear directly on the screen of the consumer’s handheld device. From the VMBeacon app, consumers are able to make purchases, easily navigate to the retailer’s website from the app, and even share the look. A save option enables the item to be stored for further consideration. Notifications from the app also inform users about sales and promotions in their area. In the case of a window display, a purchase can be made without even stepping foot into the store.

It’s hard to tell which gadgets will stick, but we wouldn’t mind giving this one a go!
